When it is time to say goodbye, we are here to help.

We offer gentle, on-site burial for horses, livestock, and beloved animals. We come to you, and we will take care of the rest.

  • We come to you

You will speak with Mitch or Kaitlyn.

  • Every season

Our own equipment, through snow and frozen ground.

How we can help

Caring for your animal, and for you

Whatever you are facing, you can call and talk it through with us. There is no pressure and no rush.

  • On-site burial

We lay your animal to rest on your own land, in a place that holds meaning for you, and we leave the ground carefully restored. Deep snow and frozen ground can affect timing, and we will always be honest with you about it.

  • Horses and equine burial

A horse is family. You are welcome to be present for as much or as little of the burial as you wish, and we will go at your pace.

  • Beloved family pets

Dogs, cats, and other companions deserve the same care. We bury them gently, close to home, wherever you would like them to rest.

  • Planning ahead

If you have an aging animal, you can talk through your options with us before a loss. There is no pressure, and no commitment.

Every situation is different. We will give you a clear, honest price before any work begins.

Our family

From our family to yours

We are Mitch and Kaitlyn Melander, raising our two little ones here in the Yampa Valley.

Animals are part of life in this valley. They work beside us, they keep us company, and they become family. We know how hard it is when one is gone, and that is why we started this service.

We wanted to offer our neighbors a calm, respectful way to lay an animal to rest, close to home, without having to figure it all out alone on the hardest day.

When you call, you reach our family. We explain every step plainly, we answer whatever you ask, and we treat your animal as we would our own.

What to expect

We will walk through it with you, one step at a time

You do not need to know what to do. We will guide you, and nothing happens until you are ready.

  1. Call us

We will listen, answer your questions, and agree on a time that works for you.

  2. Choose a resting place

We help you pick a spot, mindful of wells, streams, and access, and we follow Colorado and county guidelines.

  3. A careful burial

We use our own equipment and handle your animal gently. You may be present, say your goodbye, or step away, whichever feels right.

  4. Leaving it peaceful

We close the ground carefully and tidy the site, so it feels like a resting place and not a work site.

Questions families often ask

If yours is not here, please call. We are happy to talk it through with you.

What animals do you bury?

Horses, cattle, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, pigs, and family pets. If you are not sure whether we can help, please call and ask us.

How quickly can you come?

We answer day or night, every day of the year. When you call, we will tell you honestly how soon we can be there, without making promises we cannot keep.

Can my animal be buried on my own property?

In most cases, yes. We choose a spot at a safe distance from wells, streams, and property lines, and we follow Colorado and county guidelines. If your land is not suitable, we will talk through other options with you.

Can we be there?

Of course. Some families want to be present, and some prefer not to watch. Both are completely okay, and we will go at your pace.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of your animal, where you are, and the ground conditions. We will give you a clear price over the phone before anything is scheduled.

Do you work in winter?

Yes. We have our own equipment and work through every season. Snow and frozen ground can change the timing, and we will tell you plainly what to expect.

What should I do while I wait?

If you can, keep other animals away and cover your animal with a tarp or blanket. It also helps to note how we would reach the spot. Nothing needs to be figured out before you call.
